Bird nest in the vent.)

My neighbour's gradema saw the bird flying around my house and going into the vent this morning,then she told us.I found it is a sparrow and there are 14 small eggs in it, but I have to remove it and put it on the tree at backyard.

She is western, so her husband told us lots of things to prevent bird from building nest, and also show me the cage installed on the vent for the protection, and I will buy it from Home Depot tomorrow.

I used a piece of wire screen to block the birds entry to the vent. Take off the fins of the vent (easy to pull off and place back). Cut a square piece of the wire screen (available at the HomeDepot) to the right size of the vent hole. Place and secure the screen to cover the vent hole and then put the fins back. It's simple and easy.

Don't let birds have access to you vents. They filled the 3 feet long vent with grass to block the airway so that they can raise families in their. Bacteria and bugs growing in the vent can get into your house and can potentially cause health hazards.

Don't you think I removed the nest without taking off the vent fins, do you? :flaming:

Any way, did you do something on the soffit vents? I am thinking about how to do it now. Maybe I have to do it in the attic.

Because you said in your messege that you had removed the nest, I assumed you had become an expert at this matter. I posted the messege for the benefit of those who were not aware of the bird nest problem, just like you did.

My sofit vents are continous vents, which are not accessible to birds. Do your sofit has holes for ventilation? I have never seen them. I would assume those holes are already covered up with screens. If not, have you thought about nailing wire screens on the sofit to cover the vent holes?
