Ottawa police have released photos of a man they say is a suspect in a random hammer attack in Centretown Tuesday night that sent a man to hospital.
A 53-year-old man suffered severe face and head injuries in the attack around 6:30 p.m. at Bank Street and Somerset Street West.
Police said the suspect was also carrying a a large kitchen knife in a plastic bag.
The attacker ran from the area. He was described by police as a white man, about six-feet-two inches tall and 240 pounds. He was wearing a dark jacket and a dark toque.
