Ottawa firefighters made quick work of a Rockcliffe Park house fire Monday evening.
Shortly after 5:30 p.m., fire crews responded to a report of house fire at 137 Howick Ave., where they found a tw0-storey home under renovation in flames.
With no drywall separating the rooms, the fire spread rapidly until it reached the roof, forcing firefighters to withdraw from the building and fight the blaze defensively from the outside.
However, within 2o minutes of their arrival, they had extinguished most of the fire on the main floor, although flames were still visible in the upper portions of the house.
There were no reports of injuries.
Police closed Mariposa Avenue at Howick Avenue and Lisgar Road at Maple Lane to traffic.
