A 15-year-old girl who was shot in the face during a domestic dispute in Sault Ste. Marie was flown to Ottawa for treatment on Thursday.
Police said the girl was taken to a Sault hospital in serious condition, then flown to Ottawa in an Ornge air ambulance. Ottawa paramedics met the plane at the airport and brought the girl to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
The shooting occurred late Wednesday night at a residence in Sault Ste. Marie. Early Thursday morning, police were notified that the girl arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound.
A 21-year-old man was arrested a short time later and was charged with attempted murder, sexual assault, sexual interference, as well as several firearms-related offences. His name has not been released.
