There are two questions on VENTURE LS EXT 1997:

1. the indicators for ABS and TCS turn themselves on or off randomly. Is the problem very seriously and have to be repaired before winter?

2. the lamp cover is missing during driving. May I get cover only instead of the whole light house? And where?

Thanks a lot for any help.

1. Normally when you drive on a hole or turn sharply the indicate light of ABS/TC will also come on to indicate you it is working to limit wheel spin, and the light will dim off after 2-3 seconds. There is no problem of the system.

2. You can ask GM dealer, Canadian Tire, Used parts store or even junk yard for the lamp cover.

I own a 2000 Venture. Nice family vehicle, I use it to tow a camping trailer too. I prety like its powertrain, quiet and smooth. GM vehicles did good in powertrain, I own a Grand Am before and loved the sporty and comfort combination.

Thank you, wpger.

Q1: the indicators even turned themselves on while the engine was just started and gear was changed from "park" to "drive". Comments?

Q2: About the lamp cover (actually I mean the lens), I called many places, but no lens was sold separately. The whole part (housing and lens) costs $225. Any idea to find the lens only? In addition, is it easy to install it if I buy the whole light house?

Q1, when you first start the car, the light come on then dim off is normal. But when you shift gear it come on is not normal. Either ABS or the computer/sensor unit has problem. The computer/sensor is more likely to have problem. You can have a garage to have a look and give you an estimate of cost of repair. In my point of view, even if ABS/TC system fails, you still have normal brake, that's enough for regular driving. You can just turn off the TC switch every time you start your van. Any way it is up to you to decide what to do.

Q2, sorry I have no experience changing the lens. There's describe infomation in the user manual about changing lamps, is that make sense?

Good luck.
