A man was caught in the act Saturday after a series of thefts in the Hintonburg and Wellington Village areas.

Police say Marc Gilles Pilon, 45, of Gatineau, was apprehended behind a local establishment carrying the wallets of several recent theft victims.

He had been wanted by police after a series of break-ins and the theft of a car in the neighbourhood. Local businesses had been alerted to the crimes by the community police officer. Police were notified after Pilon was spotted in the area Saturday, leading to the arrest.

Pilon is expected to appear in court Sunday to face sixteen different charges, including:

  • theft of a vehicle
  • possession of stolen property
  • break and enter
  • several counts of breach of probation
  • possession of break and enter tools
