Firefighters battled a stubborn blaze Sunday evening after a fire broke out in the cab of a fuel tanker truck.
The cab of the truck that had just arrived from the Sudbury area was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived at 1922 Merivale Rd. around 5:40 p.m.
Firefighters used expansion foam, which suppresses flames faster than water in petroleum fires, to prevent the blaze from spreading to the fuel tank, which was empty.
Police also responded to the fire to close roads and evacuate nearby buildings, but firefighters managed to extinguish the fire before that was needed.
The cause of the fire, which caused $150,000 damage, is under investigation.
Firefighters said one was injured in the blaze.
