Conditions have improved for skating on the Rideau Canal.
A 4.6-kilometre section of the canal — from Queen Street at the National Arts Centre to the Bank Street Bridge — is now open.
Most of that stretch is described by the National Capital Commission as being in “good” condition, with other stretches “fair,” on the Rideau Canal Skateway webpage.
A section between Queen and Somerset is bumpy, and skaters are being asked to use caution in that area.
The NCC says it will open more of the world’s largest skating rink as soon as ice conditions and weather allow.
