The Sûreté du Québec was warning drivers on Saturday to be careful on the province’s highways after a slippery roads caused six crashes involving multiple vehicles.
The crashes occurred around 9 a.m. on both Highway 5 and Highway 50, near the Des Draveurs bridge in Gatineau.
Injuries were minor, but police expected it would be take awhile to clean up the mess, said Sgt. Ronald McInnis.
The highways remained open, but traffic was backed-up, he said.
McInnis said people weren’t driving according to the road conditions. He said he did not expect any criminal charges to be laid.
