Ottawa fire crews battled a ground-floor blaze in a west-end apartment building Saturday evening.
Fire officials say they received a call about a fire from an alarm company. Firefighters arrived at 1065 Ramsay Cres. and saw smoke coming from a garbage room. They declared the blaze a working fire at just before 10 p.m., officials said.
The fire was extinguished minutes later at about 10:07 p.m. Officials said crews put the garbage bin outside. There were no reported injuries.

At 10:30 p.m., crews were still on-scene ventilating the apartment building and cleaning up water. Firefighters were also checking other floors for smoke that may have drifted upward.
Officials were not immediately sure of the the cause or estimated damage of the fire.
