Gatineau Fire fighters stopped the destruction of a commercial building early Saturday morning.
The fire began at about 5:42 a.m. in a free-standing, one-storey building at 795 Vernon St., between Pink and Cook roads. This location is the address for the company Givesco, which sells building and construction materials.
Over 26 firefighters and 11 trucks were able to contain the fire, which is believed to have started outside, keeping it from spreading into the entire building.
Fire officials said the portion where the fire was located was full of stones and bricks.
No one was in the business at the time and no injuries were reported.
Damage was estimated at $100,000.
