The police investigation into alleged sexual assault and inappropriate touching at the Spookland Halloween party in west Quebec last year has stalled, due to a lack of information.

Police said Tuesday “the investigation and forensic expertise” have concluded that a 16-year-old girl who was found unconscious and partially naked at the party was not a victim of rape.

“It is possible that she was the victim of inappropriate touching,” police said in a news release. “At this time, it is impossible to identify the perpetrators of these criminal acts, and this (is) due to insufficient information.”

The party happened on Oct. 31, when 1,000 students between 16- and 21-year-old attended a party at Mont Cascades Ski Resort.

The Citizen reported a 16-year-old girl was found drugged, half-naked and unconscious at the raucous party where it was believed she was slipped GHB, a powerful “club drug” that affects the central nervous system.

At the time, the girl could not remember what had happened to her.

Two other girls, ages 16 and 17, told MRC des Collines police they were inappropriately touched in the mass lineup.

During that night, nine people were taken to hospital from the effects of drugs and alcohol.

Detectives scoured for witnesses among the Ottawa partygoers.

Police did confirm Tuesday they are investigating whether the establishment had a proper liquor licence at the time of the event.

Anyone having information related to the incidents is asked to contact Sgt.-Det. Patrick Tremblay at 819-459-2422 ext. 3286.
