Ottawa police are asking drivers to avoid Hunt Club Road in the vicinity of Paul Anka Drive as they deal with a serious accident in the area.
Two people were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle collision just east of the Hunt Club Bridge early Sunday evening.
Firefighters had to force open the doors of one of the vehicles to extricate the twosome. Ottawa paramedics then treated a 65-year-old man and a 64-year-old female passenger who’d been trapped inside before rushing them to hospital.
“Both patients were in life-threatening condition upon arrival at hospital,” paramedic superintendent Darrell Drew said following the 6:15 accident.
The accident snarled traffic, prompting police to urge avoidance of the area for at least several hours.
