This one was never actually used in the TV show, but if the General Lee car made famous by The Dukes of Hazzard is your idea of the perfect ride, an Ottawa-area man is reluctantly selling his for just under $80,000.

Carlsbad Springs resident Blake Lee has put his 1969 orange Dodge Charger, complete with 440-cubic-inch (7.2-litre) engine and rooftop Confederate battle flag, on Kijiji, and is asking $79,900 for the iconic muscle car.

An oil tanker driver, Lee bought the car a year and a half ago from his boss, but the sagging oil industry has since put him out of work, and so he’s giving it up. Lee, who, through circuitous happenstance, claims distant relations with Gen. Robert E. Lee, for whom the TV car was named, adds the car is rust-free. It was purchased by his boss from the original owner in California.

Lasting seven seasons, The Dukes of Hazzard aired from 1979 to 1985 and featured good-natured bootlegging Georgia cousins Bo (John Schneider) and Luke (Tom Wopat) Duke and their car, The General Lee. Over the show’s run, more than 300 Chargers were used. Seventeen of those are believed to still exist, in various conditions.

Tom Wopat, Catherine Bach and John Schneider starred in the Dukes of Hazzard TV show.
