Ottawa – On behalf ofMayor Jim Watson, Deputy Mayor Bob Monette will present the City’s highest honour, the Key to the City, to Mr. Daniel Alfredsson on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Ottawa City Hall in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments and contributions to professional hockey, and for his off-ice leadership and advocacy with the Ottawa Senators Foundation, the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health and the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa.
Daniel “Alfie” Alfredsson, was born in Gothenburg, Sweden and was drafted by the Ottawa Senators during the 1994 NHL entry draft. He began his Senators career by winning the Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year before going on to set franchise records for goals, assists, and points over 17 seasons with Ottawa. He led the Senators as Captain from 1999 to 2013.
