Reminder: Daniel Alfredsson to receive Key to the City

Ottawa –On behalf ofMayor Jim Watson, Deputy Mayor Bob Monette will present the City’s highest honour, the Key to the City, to Mr. Daniel Alfredsson on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Ottawa City Hall in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments and contributions to professional hockey, and for his off-ice leadership and advocacy with the Ottawa Senators Foundation, the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health and the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa. Please note that this event is by invitation only.

Date: Thursday, March 5

Location: Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West

Daniel “Alfie” Alfredsson, was born in Gothenburg, Sweden and was drafted by the Ottawa Senators during the 1994 NHL entry draft. During his Senators career, he won numerous awards, including the Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year during his first season, and held the position of Captain from 1999 to 2013.
