The herders at the popular Canada Agricultural and Food Museum could be forgiven for saying, “You’ve goat to be kidding me” this week after the facility welcomed its second batch of triplets in 48 hours.
Triplets aren’t necessarily rare in the goat world, says museum spokesman Olivier Bouffard. For goat-savvy readers, Wednesday’s arrivals were Toggenburgs, while Thursday’s triplets were of the Boer breed.
“As I understand it, it’s about as common for goats to have triplets as it is for humans to have twins,” Bouffard said.

The Small Animal Barn at the Agriculture Museum has seen a number of births over the last few weeks including three kids Thursday morning.
Bouchard expressed some wonder at the popularity of a couple of tweets announcing the arrival of the two batches of kids. The Ag Museum goat herd ranges from about a dozen to about 20, Bouffard said “especially when a half-dozen move in at one time.”

“Someone was saying it gives us hope for spring after the tough winter,” he said.

More to the point, the half-dozen four-legged kids will provide an extra attraction for their two-legged counterparts as the museum hosts its popular Foodology exhibit until March 8.
“All of the animals are popular, but the kids are certainly favourites,” Bouffard said.
