A 47-year-old Ottawa martial arts instructor has been acquitted of sex charges.
Ahmad Saroughi had been under investigation after a girl complained to police in 2013. He was charged in February 2014.
A spokesman from his martial arts studio said Saroughi is “very happy to be finally cleared” and is “taking some time for himself to recover from this ordeal.”
The accused testified in his own defence, and his lawyer, Joseph Addelman, said the judge found him credible and acquitted him last month after trial.
“An experienced judge concluded that the complainant lacked the credibility necessary to convince the court of anything,” Addelman said.
