The Ontario government has announced up to $7.6 million in funding to help former Everest College students after the school folded last month.
The funding announced Wednesday will allow students to complete their training at another school or receive a refund for the tuition they already paid to Everest College.
The province will also limit Ontario Student Assistance Program debt to $7,300 for two terms and $10,950 for three terms.
“Our government’s number one priority throughout this process has been the well-being of affected students,” Reza Moridi, the minister of training, colleges and universities, said in a statement.
Everest College’s 14 Ontario campuses closed on Feb. 19, leaving many students in limbo. They worried their work will have gone to waste and didn’t know whether they would receive a refund.
Everest College was looking for a new owner last July after its parent company, Corinthian Colleges, said it planned to sell or close all campuses.
