Ottawa police want the public’s help to catch a man suspected in an attack on a woman in the downtown Garden of the Provinces and Territories Park early Sunday afternoon.
According to police, a man — described as white, 5-7, in his mid-30s to early 40s, with a chubby build, a full, dark brown trimmed beard, and dressed in dark clothing — dragged a woman into the park at the corner of Wellington Avenue and Bay Street as she was walking to her nearby home. The assault took place around 12:45 p.m.
The woman, described as in her 40s, was “inappropriately touched” and her wallet was stolen, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service sexual assault and child abuse unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS), toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or downloading the Ottawa Police iOS app.
