The Ottawa police will face off with the 2015 Special Olympics floor hockey team led by Ottawa Senators right wing Bobby Ryan on Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the upcoming provincial championships slated for the capital in May.
A total of 384 athletes will compete in the Special Olympics Provincial Floor Hockey Championships from May 7-9 at Carleton University.
The event will be hosted by the Ottawa police in partnership with the Ottawa Sports & Entertainment Group. OSEG owns the Ottawa Redblacks, the Ottawa 67’s and the Ottawa Fury sports teams.
Wednesday’s 20-minute scrimmage will take place at the gym at Ottawa Police Service HQ, 474 Elgin St.
John Rodenburg, program director for TSN 1200 will be on hand to MC the event along with a number of business leaders.
The provincials also serve as a qualifier for the 2016 National Winter Games in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
