Probationary driver caught at more than twice speed limit in Gatineau school zone

An 18-year-old man on a probationary license was fined $634, and 10 demerit points were added to his driving record after he was clocked at 78 km/h in a 30 km/h school zone in Gatineau during the school lunch hour at 12:20 p.m. Friday.

The driver’s probationary license was suspended for seven days and his car was also impounded.

Gatineau police stopped him while speeding south on Wilfrid-Lavigne Boulevard, near the Vieux-Verger elementary school in the Aylmer sector of the city.
