The Ottawa Hospital announced Tuesday that it will be cutting the equivalent of 35 full-time positions across its three campuses in an effort to balance its 2015-16 budget.
The cuts will target nurses and administrative and support staff but include 13 positions that are already vacant.
Those affected will either be offered early retirement or “voluntary exit” packages or be redeployed elsewhere in the hospital system.
In a news release, the Ottawa Hospital also warned of more cuts this time next year as part of a push to save $26 million during the fiscal year beginning April 1.
The tripartite hospital system has 11,000 employees, an annual budget of $1.082 billion, 1,100 beds, 1,300 physicians and more than 1,000 volunteers.
