Ottawa police hope the public can help them find two men involved in a violent, gunpoint robbery on Rideau Street last Thursday.

The robbery occurred March 26 when two men arrived by cab at a store in the 100 block of Rideau. One man went inside, showed a gun and demanded valuables. When the store owner was slow to respond, the suspect struck him with the gun.

The suspect made off with some personal property belonging to the store owner, then climbed back into the waiting cab and drove off.

The victim was treated for his injuries but was not seriously hurt.

Police describe the primary suspect as a black man and about five-foot-nine tall. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, grey jogging pants, black running shoes, white gloves and a white balaclava or similar mask.

The second man stayed in the cab and is identified as “a person of interest” by police. He was also black, but no other description is available.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Robbery Unit at 613-236-1122 ext. 5116 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
