The union that represents Ontario’s elementary school teachers said Friday evening it has received a “no board” report from the minister of labour.
That puts the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) in a legal strike position as of May 10.
The ETFO represents 76,000 elementary public school teachers, occasional teachers and education professionals across the province.
In a release, union president Sam Hammond said this doesn’t mean negotiations have ended.
“But ETFO members are running out of patience,” he said.
ETFO members have been without a contract since Aug. 31, 2014.
