All defendants in a high-profile federal bid-rigging trial have been found not guilty.
A jury on Monday delivered the not guilty verdicts on five dozen charges following a trial that shone a light on the federal procurement process.
TPG Technology, Spearhead Management, Devon Group and seven individuals had been accused of improperly colluding to win more than $60 million worth of computer services contracts at the Canada Border Services Agency, Public Works and the Department of Transport.
The Crown tried — and failed — during the course of a lengthy trial to establish that the defendants collaborated without informing government procurement officials as required by the Competition Act.
The accused maintained that not only were teaming arrangements encouraged by government, procurement officials were well aware of them.
The defendants include Marina Durward, Sue Laycock, Phil McDonald, Don Powell, Tom Townsend, Ron Walker, Devon Group, Spearhead Management and TPG Technology.
