With spring finally here, it’s a good time to get your bicycle out of the garage and brush off the cobwebs.
May is Bike to Work month in Ottawa.
The city and EnviroCentre encourage cyclists to take part in the Pledge Challenge and track the distances of their bike commutes. Participants can win up to $7,000 in prizes, either individually or as a team.
Bike to Work month is all about encouraging people to consider cycling as a cost-efficient and healthy alternative for getting to work.
Experienced cycling instructors will run “Lunch and Learn” sessions to teach people about how they can make cycling a part of their everyday routine.
A number of events and activities will also be going on throughout May, including workshops on cycling safety and bike maintenance.
