The Sûreté du Québec says it believes the killings of Amanda Trottier and Travis Votour, both 23, last year were a murder for hire ordered by accused Ronald Brazeau Jr., the alleged head of drug ring operating in Aylmer and Gatineau.
Investigators told a news conference Friday their theory is that co-accused Sonia Vilon, 39, and René Samson Vonrichter, 24, were paid to kill Aylmer couple.
In addition to the three arrests on murder charges, Quebec and Gatineau police have made six trafficking arrests in connection with the case.
Police told the news conference the investigation remains open.
Some of the six alleged traffickers may also face charges related to the homicides.
