Ottawa – Media are invited to the Ottawa Public Health (OPH) Ultimate Lunch Cook-off for Food Revolution Day 2015, an annual campaign led by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver. Every year, this day aims to raise awareness around better-food education and real food.
Canadian research shows that people are buying more processed, pre-prepared and convenience foods and fewer parents are cooking “from scratch” or passing on food preparation skills to their children.
Immaculata High School students will be paired with Mayor Jim Watson, Ottawa Board of Health Chair Councillor Shad Qadri, Board of Health member Councillor Mathieu Fleury and Dr. Isra Levy, Medical Officer of Health, for a 30-minute lunch cook-off to create a healthy, affordable and delicious lunch that students would prepare for themselves. A panel of judges will select a winner.
Date: Friday, May 15
Time: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Location: Immaculata High School, 140 Main Street
Visitor parking is available in front of the school’s main entrance. Media are required to check in at the school office.
