Ottawa public high school teachers are staying in the classrooms — for now — but will begin withdrawing certain services starting Thursday.
The Ottawa Carleton District School Board said it has been informed that teachers will:
• List only marks on student report cards, and not make comments;
• Boycott staff meetings;
• Refuse “teacher in charge” or “acting VP” assignments; nad
• Possibly picket at lunch;
The board said Friday that schools will stay open and scheduled field trips and extracurricular activities will continue as planned.
The action follows a similar partial withdrawal by public elementary teachers as teacher unions step up pressure to try to win contract settlements with the provincial government. High school teachers have walked off the job at three Ontario boards.
