The weather turned from overcast to beautifully sunny as Ottawa got outside to enjoy the long Victoria Day weekend.
On Saturday, the first National Fiddling Day as proclaimed by Parliament, musicians joined together for an al fresco performance on the banks of the Ottawa River at the Deschênes Rapids.
Paddlers also braved the grey skies to test their gear as the summer begins. Paddler Alex Burnet, who tried out his legs at Westboro Beach, plans to embark on expedition from Montreal to New York City to raise awareness for early cancer detection.
And with the sun shining on the aptly named Sunday, hundreds enjoyed the Alcatel-Lucent Bike Days returned to the capital with over 50 kilometres of scenic roadways closed to vehicular traffic.
