A pair of dogs will be euthanized and their handler charged with bylaw infractions after two men were attacked on in Gatineau earlier this week.
The attacks occurred Tuesday on Laroche Street, when the dogs — a Labrador and a pitbull-type breed — set upon a 75-year-old man who was out in his yard over the noon hour. A 26-year-old neighbour who tried to intervene was also bitten. Both men were treated in hospital for their injuries.
Gatineau police later found the dogs at a nearby residence and have charged a 51-year-old man. He is the owner of the Labrador and was caring for the other animal.
On Thursday, police said the man faces four charges over the care and control of the animals, including failing to keep a potentially dangerous animal in a proper enclosure. Each infraction carries a fine of $148.
