A 49-year-old Ottawa man has been hit with a slew of charges, including driving under the influence and five counts of driving while disqualified, after a crash on Highway 417 near Maitland Ave.
Ontario Provincial Police responded to a single motor vehicle crash at around 2:45 p.m. on Highway 417 westbound, just past the Maitland Ave. overpass, on May 13. The information was only released now.
The driver, Blair McGowan, was charged with multiple offences, including five counts of driving while disqualified, driving while ability impaired, driving with more than 80 mgs., dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, taking a motor vehicle without consent, driving the vehicle with an open container of liquor and driving while under suspension.
McGowan remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 27.
