Charles H. Hulse Public School re-opened its doors Monday, more than a month after it was forced to shut down due to the use of an unapproved pesticide inside the building.
The school was closed on April 10 after a pesticide containing Propoxur was used to kill cockroaches. The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board says the pesticide wasn’t approved for interior use.
The school board had initially hoped to reopen the school between May 11 and May 19 following extensive renovations and ventilation of the property. During the closure, the school’s 450 students were being bused to Parkwood Hills Public School.
