The Ottawa Hospital announced Thursday they plan to cut more than 87 full-time positions to reduce costs by another $12 million.
The hospital said in a statement released Thursday that more than 25 of the positions to be eliminated area already vacant.
A majority of the eliminated positions are in the areas of physiotherapy, clinical nutrition and social work. The hospital said only three full-time nursing positions will be eliminated.
The other jobs to be eliminated include unionized administrative and support services, as well as non-unionized administrative positions.
In March, the hospital said they planned to cut 35 full-time jobs as part of a $26-million cost-saving effort.
Of those positions, 13 were already vacant, some employees were to redeployed and others were offered early retirement or what the hospital called “voluntary exit” packages.
