A serious five-vehicle collision forced Ontario Provincial Police to close Highway 17 west of Arnprior on Tuesday afternoon while they investigate the crash.
Five people were injured, three of them with serious injuries. One person was airlifted to hospital from the scene, while the other four were transported by ambulance.
OPP in Renfrew responded to the crash at 1:23 p.m. on Highway 17 west of Campbell Drive in the Township of McNab/Braeside.
So far, the police investigation has found that the vehicles were travelling eastbound in a construction zone where speed limits were reduced to 60 km/h.
Police expect the highway to be closed until after the evening rush hour.
