Don’t get too excited if you see an important-looking motorcade roaring around the city on Friday. The Ottawa Police Service and the RCMP will be conducting a standard training exercise that doesn’t involve any real VIPs, but that will cause short traffic delays.
In the simulated VIP visit, a motorcade escorted by the Ottawa police and the RCMP will be visiting a number of sites around Ottawa between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The exercise is part of the National VIP Security Training Course, a component that aims to introduce practical scenarios into the overall training.
