Algonquin College has announced that former Ottawa Citizen editor Scott Anderson has been appointed as the school’s new director of communications, effective July 6.
Anderson, who has 24 years of experience in the field, will be joining the school from the Prime Minister’s Office where he served as a senior advisor and speechwriter. He also honed his leadership skills while he served in a number of management roles within Postmedia and Canwest — most recently, he was senior vice president, digital content strategy and managing director of Canada.com. Before that Anderson served as the editor-in-chief of the Ottawa Citizen for almost eight years.
“Algonquin has an excellent communications team and I am thrilled to be joining it and the broader College community as we all embrace new challenges and opportunities here and abroad,” said Anderson, who is currently pursuing his Masters degree in Communication Management from McMaster University.
Anderson’s many tasks will include managing the school’s internal and external communications and acting as the college’s official spokesperson.
Algonquin College has 19,000 full-time students and has campuses in Ottawa, Perth, Pembroke, as well as international campuses and online programs.
