New information has come out that appears to contradict the police characterization of events during the deadly Oct. 22, 2014 attack in Ottawa, the CBC has reported.
Kristel Peters is the woman who was seen in security footage running across the grounds of Parliament Hill with a baby stroller.
Police suggested that Peters approached an RCMP officer on the Hill and tried to get into the cruiser for safety, and that may have slowed down the response as Michael Zehaf-Bibeau headed toward Centre Block. But Peters told the CBC she did no such thing. She said, having just witnessed the shooting of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, she warned the officer that there was a gunman on the loose.
Peters told the CBC she spoke to the officer about hiding in the car, but the idea was abandoned once the officer headed off after Zehaf-Bibeau.
Peters said she hadn’t spoken to police until Thursday, when officers interviewed her.
