Ontario Provincial Police responded to the scene of an accident in Prince Edward County on Saturday to find two motorcyclists dead and several others severely injured.
According to police, a Mazda Miata sports car carrying two people crossed into oncoming traffic, slamming headfirst into a group of eight motorcyclists travelling east on the Loyalist Parkway near Stapleton Road.
The crash killed two of the motorcyclists and injured three people, including the 83-year-old driver of the Miata and his 80-year-old female passenger. A third motorcyclist, a 65-year-old man, also received serious injuries as a result of the collision. All three were rushed to hospital.
Police have identified the two deceased motorcycle riders as Darren Philip Williams, 46, of Quinte West and Edgar Wayne Boone, 58, of Ottawa.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
