question about furnace maintenance

I got a letter to say want me to perform the furnace maintenance.
80+GST will do a complete and inspection.
135+ GST will do both the furnace and A/C.

Is it nessary to do the maintenace?
The price is good?

How old is your furnace?
Don't you have warranty on it if its new?

One year. I just bought my house last year.
I do nt know there is warranty for the furnace.

Basicly, the new furnaces we bought these years that buring nature gas, which is considered as clean fuel, should not need cleaning as the old ones.
Talking about the ducts, it depends on house clean or dirty your house used to be kept as, the dust could be settled in the ducts and accumulated to such amount that it will pollute air quality once the fan is turued on again after a while.
Changing Air filter every 3--6 month should be a way to keep your air system clean. Get a comercial vacume truck clean the system should you consider the pipe lines are dirty.

This is just my understanding , I will check out more information on this.

I bought my house (built in 1996) in June and have it inspected. The inspector told me that for my furnace it will be good to do a maintenance once a year. This will keep it work in good condition and save some energy. I don't have any idea about the maintenance of new furnace but for and old one, it seems that it is necessary to do it.

The cost will be around $80.

I disagree. Basic maintenance is necessary for both natural gas burning and older oil burning furnices. The burning of fuel leaves residues on the burners. Dust also accumulate in furnices. Fuel burning efficiency is affacted if furnce is dirty. Ideally, furnces should be cleaned once a year. Regular maintenance prolong the life of a furnice. You should get it done.

今天收到一封信，是那个给俺们装炉子的公司来的，提醒俺们保修期是两年，还说一次检修费用是85刀…
俺这头两年好像不用花钱了----去年就有一次免费的。
另外提醒购买新房的朋友，如果发现房间供暖不平衡，有的房间风特大，有的特凉什么的，可以在保修期内要求他们来调一下风量平衡…
俺们家里用油炉子的同事说，每年清理是必要的…
用气炉子的还没有抓到，俺会再探再报…
