General Tom Lawson, Chief of the Defence Staff, was on hand on Friday afternoon, June 26, 2015 to preside over the change of command ceremony in which Lt-Gen Christine Whitecross assumed the role of Chief of Military Personnel from predecessor Lt-Gen David Millar. Lt-Gen Whitecross had previously held the post of Chief Military Engineer of the Canadian Forces.
According to the Canadian Armed Forces, “The Chief of Military Personnel has functional authority for the management of CAF personnel and is responsible for developing and implementing policies and programs to ensure the availability of the right person, with the right qualifications, in the right time at the right place, to accomplish CAF missions at home and abroad.” More on the role of the Chief of Military Personnel, http://www.forces.gc.ca/en/about-org-structure/chief-military-personnel.page.
