It looks like Luka Magnotta is looking for love.
In a dating profile posted on a website dedicated to finding pen pals for federal inmates, the notorious convicted killer whose crime shocked the nation and left his victim’s family heartbroken says he is looking for his “prince charming” – a “single white male, 28-38 years of age, white and in shape.”
Magnotta’s wish list includes “one who is loyal, preferably educated, financially and emotionally stable for a long term committed relationship,” according to the profile that was recently posted to Canadian Inmates Connect Inc.
“If you think you could be my prince charming, send me a detailed letter with at least 2 photos,” the profile continues. “Only those I deem compatible with receive a response. Serious inquiries only please. All unsolicited mail will be discarded.”
Despite his notoriety for killing student Lin Jun in Montreal in May of 2012, filming himself dismembering the body and then sending the hands and feet to the offices of both the Conservative and Liberal Party of Canada in Ottawa and a pair of schools in Vancouver, Magnotta seems coy about his conviction.
Under the section where it lists what the offender is convicted of, Magnotta’s profile says “not stated.” Magnotta also lists his expected release date as 2037.
Magnotta is actually serving a life sentence for first-degree murder and isn’t eligible for parole for 25 years. That means the earliest Magnotta can apply for parole is in 2037, although the odds that he might be released then are slim.
Magnotta’s profile includes a pair of photos that appear to have been taken during his days as a model. One photo is a close up that shows him in white shirt with the collar turned up and wearing a necklace. Another smaller and grainier photo shows a smiling Magnotta with his white shirt open to reveal his chest and abdomen.
In the profile, Magnotta describes himself as a single white male, 33, who is 5-foot-11 and 175 lbs. with dark hair and blue eyes.
Anyone who is interested in contacting him is directed to send mail to Archambault Penitentiary in St-Anne-Des-Plaines, Quebec, according to the profile.
According to a disclaimer on Canadian Inmates Connect home page, information on the website is provided by the inmate and is not verified by the website.
The disclaimer also warns it is not responsible for any type of relationship that is developed through the site.
The website also features the profile of another high profile inmate, Ottawa’s Momin Khawaja, the first person ever convicted under Canadian anti-terror legislation.
Khawaja is searching for his “Future Miss” and writes that he is attracted to “skinny white girls, blondes and brunettes.” Khawaja says he wants to find a girl he can marry.
“My offenses stem from moral and financial support of the anti-western occupation insurgency in places such as Iraq and Afghanistan,” writes Khawaja, who notes his parole eligibility began last year. “I’ve never killed an innocent human being or harmed women and children in any way. I have a life sentence but I won’t be in jail forever.”
Khawaja was convicted in 2008 for plotting with a group of British Islamist extremists that was planning a London bombing campaign and to wage a wider jihad against the West. He was given a life sentence with no chance of eligibility for 10 years.
“My parole eligibility started last year. I just need to be in the right place to get it,” he writes.
Khawaja writes that he doesn’t really like girls who party, club, drink or sleep around. “They’ve not my type.”
Khawaja describes himself as being fit and athletic, with a high school, college and university education. He speaks five languages and has travelled the world, Khawaja writes, and has studied texts of the traditional Islamic sciences such as sarf, Nahwa, Lugha, Fiqh, Usool, tafseer and Hadith. Khawaja said he is also a hafidh of the Qur’an. A hafidh is someone who has memorized and will protect the Quran.
“You may not know what any of this means and that’s ok. I’m looking to stoke your curiosity and get you interested in me,” he writes.
Khawaja writes that he prefers someone who’s intelligent, educated, stable, hardworking, devoted, understanding and kind. His profile says he is being held at Millhaven, near Kingston.
According to the website’s home page, Canadian Inmates Connect Inc. is a website dedicated to finding pen pals for inmates serving sentences in Canadian federal penitentiaries.
“Whether it be poor choices, ‘in the wrong place at the wrong time’, lifestyle, it doesn’t matter…Inmates are people too. Unfortunately, over time, they are forgotten about by family and friends who were once there for them,” says the website.
“Being incarcerated brings the loss of dignity, self-worth and independence just to name a few. They become robots living an institutional schedule.
Prison is far from being the “Club Fed” that it has been made out to be,” the website says. “Consider doing a random act of kindness and get to know an Inmate through letters. Consider taking a few minutes to write a letter or send a card. It’s something simple like this that could lift their spirits and brighten their day.”
The website lists profiles for 101 male inmates and one female inmate. Many of the inmates have been convicted of murder or manslaughter.
