Ottawa – Come make a splash when the pool at the Goulbourn Recreation Complex, 1500 Shea Road, reopens this Saturday, July 4.
The pool has been closed since 2013 for maintenance, so the City of Ottawa is holding a re-opening celebration for the community. Mayor Jim Watson and Councillor Shad Qadri will be on hand to start the festivities.
Activities from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. will include carnival games, an aquatic-themed photo booth, live martial arts demonstrations and workshops, clowns, balloons, face painting, a group Wii tournament and snacks like cotton candy and snow cones. Enjoy live music with Starfire. And come meet Buckles, the Red Cross mascot, who’s all about water safety.
Free swim times are from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and 3 to 4:30 p.m. And bring your skates and a warm jacket -- there will also be an open skate from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
