Erik Willis, one of Canada’s most powerful powerlifters (yes, pun intended), has won a silver medal at this year’s North American powerlifting championships in Moose Jaw, Sask.
According to reports, he missed the gold medal by only half a kilogram (or about one pound).
A renowned powerlifter in the Ottawa community, Willis recently finished his master’s degree in engineering at Carleton University. He represented Carleton in Canadian Interuniversity Sport competition and at multiple championships throughout the years, including the February 2015 College and University Challenge, where he won the 120-kg class for best dead lift, best squat and best male lifter.
