Q: When will the stores be closing?

A: The last day of business for BLACKS stores will be August 8, 2015. However, there may be some stores closing a bit earlier, depending on each store’s individual situation. Signage at store and information posted at blacks.ca will indicate the last day of operation for each store.

Q: What will happen to the website and the app?

A: Our website and mobile app remain open for business, continuing to operate as blacks.ca. and BLACKS Photo APP, now that they have been purchased by one of Canada’s leading photofinishers. As of August 4, 2015 all web and mobile app orders will be shipped directly to customers’ homes. PLEASE NOTE: We are no longer selling cameras, camera accessories, frames & albums online.

Q: Who bought BLACKS?

A: Les Pros de la Photo purchased the BLACKS website and mobile app business and will operate the business as blacks.ca and BLACKS Photo App. They are a privately held corporation located in Montreal, QC. Les Pros has been in business for 30 years and is one of Canada’s leading photo imaging companies. Les Pros is a fully integrated photo imaging company that develops and markets photo imaging software for websites and kiosks and produces finished photo products such as prints, photo book, calendars, cards, gifts and more.

Q: My prints used to be printed in my local store, where are they being produced now?

A: To ensure you get the level of quality you have come to expect at your local BLACKS store, as of August 4th your prints will be produced by one of Canada’s leading photofinishers, utilizing the most advanced digital imaging printers on the market. The confidence we have in the quality of the prints you will receive is backed up by a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Q: I have pictures stored on the website, what’s happening to them now?

A: Photos currently being stored on the BLACKS.ca website can be printed and will continue to be accessible, but they cannot be downloaded from the website to customers’ computers.

Q: You have an original photo of mine, what happens now that my local store is closing?

A: Your local store will attempt to contact all customers prior to August 8, 2015, who have original photos waiting for pickup at the store.

Q: What if I can’t make it into a store to pick up my order or collect an original photo before you close all your stores?

A: Recognizing the personal importance of the custom products ordered from BLACKS, we will attempt to contact all our customers who have unclaimed product orders ready for pick up. Unfortunately, all unclaimed product orders not picked up by August 8, 2015 will be carefully disposed of in a manner that protects the personal nature of the product.

Q: What about Print+, can I still buy a card, can I still use the card I already have?

A: We will no longer be selling new or reloading existing Print+ cards as of June 9, 2015. Customers can continue to use their existing cards for in-store printing prior to August 8, 2015 or by transferring their unused prints balance to the new blacks.ca after August 8, 2015.

Q: What happens to my Prints For Life card and balance?

A: We have stopped offering Prints for Life as of June 9, 2015. Customers can continue to use their existing Prints For Life cards for in-store printing prior to August 8, 2015 or by transferring their unused prints balance to the new blacks.ca after August 8, 2015.  

Q: What happens to the BLACKS extended camera warranty I purchased?

A: All BLACKS “We’ll Handle it Protection Plan” extended warranties for cameras will be refunded on a prorated basis. For warranties expiring in 2015, a refund of 50% of the original price paid will be issued. For warranties expiring in 2016 or later a refund of 100% of the original price paid will be issued. Please visit your local BLACKS store to process your refund or call the Smile Centre at 1-800-668-3826 to receive your refund.

Q: Is your Refund and Return policy still in effect?

A: Yes, our current policies are still in effect and will be honoured at any of our stores for all purchases made prior to June 9, 2015. All purchases made on or after June 9, 2015 are considered final sale and cannot be returned or refunded. For more information, please contact the Smile Centre at 1-800-668-3826.

Q: What about the BLACKS gift card(s) I have?

A: We will no longer be selling BLACKS Gift Cards as of June 9, 2015. All existing Gift Cards will be honoured at stores for use as payment towards all purchases made in store prior to August 8, 2015. For more information, or if you are unable to use all of your existing balance, please visit your local BLACKS store or call the Smile Centre at 1-800-668-3826 to receive a refund.

Q: Where do I go for wireless phone and accessories sales support after you close?

A: For wireless handsets from TELUS and Koodo, their respective stores are equipped to address any questions or concerns customers may have about their products. Store locations can be found at: TELUS or Koodo For wireless accessories, please contact the manufacturer directly for any questions or concerns you may have after August 8, 2015.
