Ottawa Public Health has issued a heat advisory for Sunday, as Environment Canada forecasts a high of 31 C and humidex readings of 40 C or more.
It was the first such advisory for this summer.
The weather forecaster sees a 60-per-cent chance of showers or thunderstorms late in the morning and in the afternoon Sunday. The day could be fairly windy also.
Among other suggestions, the city department advises people to avoid excessive outdoor activity, wear a hat, light and loose clothing, plenty of sunscreen and sunglasses.
And, of course, stay hydrated with plenty of water or other beverages.
