Firefighters and police responded Sunday evening to what initially appeared to be a roof collapse at Briargreen Public School on Parkfield Crescent.
At the scene, though, they discovered a much less serious situation than the 6 p.m. caller had described after driving past the school.
Officials explained that the school roof was being redone and some of the building materials fell through an overhang onto the ground at the front of the building. They referred to the incident as a “partial soffit collapse”.
No one was present at the school at the time. However, police have blocked access to the area.
