Ottawa police have charged a 42-year-old Ottawa man with sexual assault after an alleged attack on a woman in her late 20s during a photo shoot in March.
The woman had contacted the man in connection with his role with the Ottawa chapter of CHIVE — an organization, police say, has various functions, including entertainment promotion and raising funds for those in need — and went to his home for the shoot.
Brian Frank Meharg made a brief appearance by video from the courthouse cellblock on Monday and was released on a $5,000 bond with conditions including staying away from the victim and not offering to or taking photos of women in his home.
Meharg, who wore a light purple dress shirt and khaki pants, has no recent criminal record.
Police believe there might be other victims and were asking anyone with information to contact the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944.
