A ByWard Market luxury boutique that specializes in bridal gowns has declared bankruptcy.
McCaffrey Haute Couture by David McCaffrey on Sussex Drive has closed and there is a bankruptcy notice posted out front.
Ginsberg, Gingras and Associates confirmed its Gatineau office is acting as the trustee in the file.
A notice was posted on the locked door of boutique door on Monday. As of Tuesday, the company’s Twitter and Facebook accounts were deactivated and most of the store inventory had been cleared from the downtown location.
A fashion institution for 18 years, McCaffrey Haute Couture created bridal, cocktail and evening wear for modern brides and discerning women. The award-winning label is carried in a number of luxury boutiques throughout North America.
It’s not yet clear what will happen if a customer has purchased a dress that is not yet in-store.
